In case you haven't heard, the Swedish police force recently grew tired of their cop cars not living up to their crime-fighting needs. From there, they started putting vehicles that were worthy of their fleet through a rigorous series of performance tests. Naturally, their search led them to one of our new favorites here at Volvo of Burlingame.
Next thing you know, they're awarding 2014 Volvo XC70 with the highest scores of the bunch.
Since then, Volvo has been fine-tuning this wagon of ours to feel more like a cop car and less like a road-tripper's best friend. They threw in anti-roll bars, springs and shock absorbers, plus a new coat of paint to strike fear into the hearts of criminals across Sweden. And now that we've seen the finished product, we have to say that the Swedes chose well.
"Police forces need a car that performs predictably and does not offer any surprises. That is why we develop our police cars in close operation with the Swedish police, who are involved throughout the product-development phase," says Ulf Rydne, business manager commercial vehicles at Volvo Car Special Vehicles and Accessories. "That way, we get firsthand insight into the demands place on a police car."1
So if you'd like to do as the Swedish cops do, feel free to experience the many winning qualities of the 2014 Volvo XC70 today with a test drive at our dealership here in Burlingame, CA. After all, they wouldn't just go with any old wagon now, would they?
