The North American Car and Truck of the Year awards aren't like traditional awards that come from a single media outlet. Instead, the jury is made up of a group of more than 50 independent journalists from the United States and Canada. The intent of the awards is to recognize the most outstanding new vehicles of the year, based on factors such as innovation, comfort, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and overall value.

We're clearly a little biased, but here at Volvo of Burlingame we're quite partial to the all-new XC90, so we were excited to learn that it is one of only three finalists for Truck/Utility of the Year honors. The luxurious SUV not only features cutting-edge semi-autonomous technology, it also comes with two world-first safety functions: Intersection Auto Brake and Run Off Road Protection.

“The all-new XC90 represents the future of Volvo,” said Lex Kerssemakers, president and CEO, Volvo Cars of North America. “We are grateful that NACTOY judges recognize how significant it is for consumers, the industry, and for us.”

The winner will be announced January 11, 2016.
