For our last post, here at Volvo of Burlingame, we told you about a self-driving automobile project being undertaken by Volvo and automotive technology company, Autoliv. Today, we have learned that Volvo is putting their money where the mouth is, by making a landmark statement that fully proves the company's confidence in their ability to bring the technology to the public.

Speaking at the Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C., CEO, Håkan Samuelsson, promised that Volvo would take full responsibility for an incident caused by their vehicles when in autonomous mode. The statement should alleviate concerns of insurance companies worried about shouldering the financial burden. It is also expected to encourage law makers to move forward with regulations that would speed up world-wide adoption of the technology.
