Electric or Hybrid Volvo

Volvo is committed to being a fully electric car company by 2030, with the goal of having half of Volvo sales come from hybrids, and the other half from electric in 2025. Volvo is setting the way as it intends to only sell fully electric cars and phase out any car in its lineup with an internal combustion engine (including hybrids).

"There is no long-term future for cars with an internal combustion engine," said Henrik Green, the chief technology officer of Volvo. "We are firmly committed to becoming an electric-only car maker by 2030. It will allow us to meet the expectations of our customers and be a part of the solution when it comes to fighting climate change." Volvo is also partnering with other environmentally conscious auto makers to pass legislation for the rapid expansion of easily accessible, high quality, charging stations.

Volvo provides an extensive variety of options for both hybrids and electric cars, including:

  • Volvo S60 Hybrid
  • Volvo S90 Hybrid
  • Volvo V60 Hybrid wagon
  • Volvo XC60 Hybrid SUV
  • Volvo XC60 Hybrid SUV
  • Volvo XC90 Hybrid SUV

Recharge Models

The Recharge line up is a completely new line of advanced pure electric and plug-in hybrid cars, designed to give you a refined and more sustainable driving experience. Most of the total carbon emissions from a plug-in hybrid car occur when it is being driven on gasoline. To encourage drivers of Volvo plug-in hybrids to drive as sustainably as possible, Volvo plans to introduce ways to reward driving in pure electric mode.
