2022 Volvo News

For the 2022 model year, the Volvo C40 Recharge is the first Volvo electric vehicle sold without an engine-powered counterpart. Further, the 2022 Volvo XC40 and XC60 model vehicles feature gasoline and electric models.

It was recently announced that a new Volvo electric vehicle would be joining the lineup in the near future. It will be called the "Embla." The all-new Volvo Embla will be the new flagship SUV for the Volvo brand and will offer a look that crosses an SUV with a wagon.

2023 Volvo News

As mentioned above, Volvo recently announced that the 2023 lineup of vehicles would feature electric capability. The 2023 lineup will consist of mild hybrid, hybrid, and all-electric powertrains that feature over-the-air updates and built-in Google services. In addition, the Volvo XC90, Volvo XC40, and Volvo V60 models will come standard with a mild-hybrid powertrain.

Each new Volvo Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) will be built on a new electric vehicle platform. The new platform is constructed to minimize excess weight on the vehicle body and its components. Moreover, this new platform optimizes efficiency and reduces drag to maintain overall performance.

Also, for 2023, each new Volvo model vehicle will offer new color options, wheels, and interior options, including leather-free upholstery. The new 2023 Volvo S60, Volvo V60, and Volvo V60 Cross Country will offer a new front grille design and rear bumper inserts. In all, drivers will have their choice in the design and equipment of their preferred Volvo model vehicle.

The Future of Volvo

Volvo cars are becoming a fully electric car brand by 2030. At that time, Volvo will complete phasing out of vehicles featuring an internal combustion engine. The decision to move toward full-electric is brought on by a worldwide climate plan that aims to reduce the carbon footprint of each vehicle.

Another facet of this move toward all-electric sustainability is the increase in accessible high-speed charging infrastructure the world over. Moreover, the move toward total electrification comes as the demand for all-electric vehicles continues to rise. Ober the next several years, Volvo plans to announce more new all-electric models to meet its target dates.

Along with going all-electric by 2030, by the year 2040, Volvo aims to be completely carbon neutral in both its vehicle lineup and the vehicle's construction. This includes becoming the first automotive manufacturer to join the SteelZero initiative. This initiative aims to increase the need for fossil-free steel and reduce CO2 emissions. The end goal is to make for sustainable steel construction in the future, helping Volvo cars to achieve its goal of carbon neutrality for a cleaner and greener future.
