Volvo has been making a lot of noise lately on the self-driving car front, including promising to take responsibility for any accident that occurs while in self driving mode.

Now our favorite automaker has released a video for Concept 26, a potential design for the interiors of their self-driving vehicles.

Concept 26 reinvents the driver's seat, and the way it reclines. It moves less like a typical car-seat, and more like a lazy boy recliner for ease in shifting from Drive Mode to Relax Mode.

These two modes, which allow the driver to fully control and operate the car or lay back, respectively, are joined by Create Mode. Create slides the seat away from the steering wheel so you can sit upright, with room to do any number of activities, from reading, to planning out your day.

Volvo is careful to assure drivers they are in full control, even in autonomous driving mode. Control can always be taken over again manually, and touchscreen interfaces allow the driver to watch the vehicle's every move, and to customize driving behaviors and route.

Can't wait for autonomous vehicles to be available at Volvo of Burlingame? Check out our new inventory, where vehicles like the new XC90 already sport safety features using some of the same sensor technology used in self-driving models.
